I am happy to report an update on the new filtration media I am developing with my partner, Doctor Liuy Yu Lin, Distinguished Professor at Christian Brothers University. For those just tuning in to 901X, here is a short synopsis of what we are doing.
- 901X is a filtration media made from an inexpensive and abundant agricultural by product
- Laboratory testing has shown a persistent affinity for removing heavy metals from polluted waters
- Production costs for 901X are a minuscule fraction compared to ion exchange and activated carbon media
What I am reporting on today is the phenomenal results we obtained on a waste stream from an automotive parts E-coat paint line. Currently the client uses a multiple step process to remove paint solids, particulate matter and toxic heavy metals (Zinc, Copper, Lead, Silver and Nickel) prior to discharging to the environment. The before-and-after samples are very impressive, and exciting.
The potential impact on the water-treatment industry and the environment is substantial and important. 901X represents new opportunities for providers of municipal drinking water, industrial water/wastewater services, home drinking water products, manufacturing processes, chemical treatment and environmental clean-ups not seen before. These benefits include lower costs, reduced carbon footprint, reduced energy costs, cleaner water, less filtration equipment than traditional technology, cleaner water, and the ability to treat many waste streams that current technology cannot economically treat.
