As I look back at my college science classes one of the memories that has stood out and remained with me was an oft repeated statement that “water is the source of life.” I think the reason that this stood out is because I heard this from different professors teaching different disciplines of science.
What I am writing about this morning however, is not the age-old argument about where life originated from, but instead a different point of view regarding water being the source of life. The source of life I am talking about is the many ways in which clean water eliminates disease, cures hunger and thirst, improves education, develops economies and in general brings a much bigger slice of life, including hope and happiness to everyone it touches.
There is a wonderful project that I have decided to become involved with that is known as, The Water Project. This initiative strives to bring fresh water to the multitudes who are suffering for lack of it. I will revisit this group at a later date, but for now I want to focus on the theme of, “water is the source of life.” I have spent countless hours talking about how crucial water is to mankind, and the following link from The Water Project bears the same name as the title of this blog post. I hope you will take the time to read it for it is well done, and I think it will remind us how lucky and blessed we all are to have an abundance of fresh, safe, healthy water.
Enjoy, and give thanks!
