- Alumina-based adsorbents
Water softening, which is exempt from this conversation because of its niche and universal performance on hard water. If high hardness is the problem, there is not a technology that equals the performance of salt-based water softening. But I digress.
Of all home filtration technologies, those four top the list of the most popular products purchased by the consumer. The claims of these products include better taste and smell, reduction of specific contaminants, and even better health. However, the actual technical differences between similar products are nil.
Drinking water filter technology has been very stagnant over the past 25 years. If you were to ask one water pitcher manufacturer how their product differs from their competitor’s pitcher for instance, they would regurgitate boiler plate mumbo jumbo reminding you of a politician.
At WITNG, we develop filtration products that raise the bar, provide safer water, and help to solve environmental challenges. In 2018, motivated by the invention of a special rice husk biochar by Dr. L. Yu Lin, Ph. D, and his son Joshua, I conceived a company that eventually was named Glanris. I named the product 901X hinting at the telephone area code for Memphis, and then brought entrepreneur Bryan Eagle in as CEO to help us launch the company (The History Of Glanris)
Originally focused only on water treatment applications, Eagle has since expanded Glanris horizons into cement, carbon capture, soil remediation, climate change mitigation, and more. My interest in this product has remained in applying its unique properties to water filtration. To that end, I am proud to announce that our team, at WITNG, has developed a Game changing filter that achieves our goals and takes the filtration industry to new heights.
We have created a combined media filter, incorporating Glanris media that can be used like a stand-alone drinking filter, or refrigerator filter, and excitingly, as a prefilter that increases the metals removal capacity of new and existing RO systems by a log of 4 to 10. In addition to this performance, our VFS -1P filter offers other impressive benefits.
