On Friday, July 7, 2017, the Florida Department of Public Health issued a health advisory for seven beaches in Okaloosa and Walton counties. The ocean in these areas is contaminated with enterococci, a bacteria commonly found in feces. According to the release this is a common occurrence whenever there is a substantial rainfall.
